How can I get my basset hound puppy to stop biting and barking?
Will this continue until he’s an adult if I don’t train it or will it eventually mellow down? I bought him several chew toys and small bones with meat, but he seems to get sick of chewing his toys n bones easily and starts chewing my shoe. Sometimes when i yell at him with a stern voice saying no or ignoring him he understands, but he doesn’t seem to learn to stop completely… I do have a muzzle cover or whatever and water spray but I don’t like to use it because it doesn’t seem to work… His behavior is not too bad its just he gets excited when he sees people/new people approaching and he gets hyper sometimes because he’s a pup…

Poodle training help, dog won't stop biting?
My family just adopted a poodle puppy about a week ago, and when we bought him, we were expecting a typical poodle, calm/laid back and intelligent. This dog seems to be anything but. We have owned many dogs in the past, both poodles and Samoyeds and have never had any trouble training the dogs or any trouble with biting. This poodle will NOT listen to NO. Nothing makes him stop his offending behaviors. He clamps down hard on our fingers or other items that he should not be chewing on and refuses to let go. Distracting him with his toys does not work as he just shoves the toy aside and keeps going for our hands or our clothing, holding his muzzle shut with our hands for a second and saying NO doesn’t work. Quarantining him in the kitchen for a short time each time he behaves badly does not work. Saying oww and acting like you are in pain does not work. The ONLY thing that has worked thus far is my uncles antiquated suggestion of rolling up a couple of pieces of computer paper and tapping him on the nose with it each time he bites. I don’t want to hit my dog with paper and I don’t want him to become a fearful dog but literally NOTHING works with him. Sorry this is so long, but I’m at a loss here. What can we do to make this dog stop biting? Please help
Yeah, that was the point, none of that stuff works. And like I said, I don’t want to hit my dog and I’m not going to. All I said was, my uncle did it and it worked. He does not respond to no, and yelping like another puppy, which I tried, just makes him more and more determined. This dog is like the anti poodle. ugh
Oh, and we cannot play fetch or any other games with this dog b/c he quickly becomes excited and starts biting.

I am DESPERATE for help with my chewing puppy?
When I say desperate, I mean desperate. My mother and I have discovered that whenever we leave Sammy (my lab/shepherd/possibly pit mix) in the house, she chews anything she can get to. (She’s about 9 months, btw)
Anyways, first she chewed up some shoes, then it was two pairs of my moms expensive glasses, then she tore up underneath of my moms bed, and she chewed the cords to all my game systems. She chewed up her outside doggy pillow, and the bed thing under that. She gets into the trash, digs, its horrible! My moms terrified to leave her inside, because what if she chews the couch? She even chewed up ALL of my moms candles.
We decided to pick EVERYTHING up that she could eat, except for the big things, such as the couch, ect, and leave her in with our other dog, Lucy. We left her with bones and other toys, and a Kong stuffed with frozen peanut butter. Since there was nothing to chew, she actually went into the fire place and got the charcoal out! It seems like she HAS to do some sort of destruction! So we started putting her outside, and she chewed up the edges of all our patio chairs, and my moms flower pots. And yesterday, she chewed up my moms favorite pair of shoes (70$) and her brand new jeans (40$). We can’t afford for her to do this anymore! We’re thinking about buying her a muzzle, but then she couldn’t really be a dog. I think its cruel.
We’ve considered that doggy spray that tastes bitter, but we can’t spray every single item in the house. We’re usually not around when she does the deed, but we still scold her and throw her outside. We’ve tried bones and other toys that give her something to do, and she STILL chews everything up. We don’t really have the money for a training class. I don’t know about crating her. I’ve never had a dog I needed to crate. I can’t spray her with water when I see her chewing something bad, because I never see it! We’ve also tried rewarding her when she chews on the proper item, but nothing is helping. We used to take her on walks every single day, and she still chewed. We know she’s a really high energy dog, but what else can we do? I have school and my mom has work. We can’t constantly be there for her. We took away all of her stuffed animal toys to prevent her from learning to "rip" stuff up.
Any help would be highly appreciated. I don’t EVER see myself giving her away, because I love her so much, but I really want this to stop. My mom is so fed up with her, and so am I.

How do I stop my dogs from barking? As far as I know I've tried everything.?
I have a two year old beagle/corgi mix, and an 18 month old corgi. They both bark excessively at every little sound. Living in an apartment complex, little sounds happen all the time. I have tried a shock collar (only works on the beagle, but not always. I do not like the idea of leaving it on her at all times). I have sprayed with a water bottle, used an empty can full of coins to shake and startle them. Muzzle, hitting the nose, holding their mouth shut, saying no, enough, stop, no barking, and everything else that comes to mind in a loud firm voice. I read to try and train them to bark and then teach them when to stop and that didn’t work either. I am at my wits end. I cannot take them on walks or out in public because all they do is bark at every person, and my neighbors complain because they bark at every noise at all hours in my apartment. The only thing I can think of that I haven’t tried is a citronella collar, but they are so expensive to buy two. Is there any other way or am I going to have to buy two? Is it safe to keep those collars on them at all times? I worry with the shock collar one will bite or chew it and electrocute themselves or the dog wearing it. Not to mention the shock collar does not even phase my corgi.
Please help!!

We own a 9 month Basenji dog that chews up EVERYTHING & I want her to stop! How?
This is my husband’s dog as I’m a cat person & there is a damn good reason why I am, as I’m going through HELL taking care of a dog my husband rarely sees b/c he works so much & she fricken chews everything unless you watch her nonstop or put a muzzle on her when your’re not in the room. We also have a kennel in our bedroom I have to keep her in 3-4 hours a day as I have a baby & 6 yr old that I take care of full time and I dont have the time needed to properly train this dog NOT to chew.
Is there anything out there that I can buy or use to quickly train her to stop this chewing as again today I walk outside to find all of my mail scattered all over the yard, shredded, and in one of the packages was a necklace she ruined, and the corners chewed off my brand new datebook that had arrived. She has chewed my daughter’s new bicycle, wall molding, cables to laptops, phones, fans, you name it, and she has destroyed four headsets b/c my hubby forgets to put them up high.
She has every kind of toy you can think of & rarely plays with them. We play with them with her to get her interested but I’ve noticed she only likes the toys she can shred. Hell she even shreds her beds, pulls the stuffing out, and the brand new bed that is 5 days old she has got one side chewed and stuffing pulled out. She has ruined our king size quilt, pillows, and bedding as she chews the corners off. She had a playmate but it was too much as the other one chewed, peed and pooped everywhere and destroyed the walls and base boards and was constantly doing the "Happy Pee" all the time.
My husband gets on me about spending money wisely, yet when it comes to his dog not matter how expensive the item she destroys he blames me for not spending enough time with her, or that she is bored and needs more toys, which she has, or something. He knows exactly how crazy busy I am with a baby, house, bills, school, wife, mother, and so on, yet when the dog does something bad he forgets all of that & thinks I have all the time in the world to take care of the dog.
So I need a way to stop the chewing or if you have to good logic to why he should get rid of her I’m all for that, but I’ve told him every sensible thing but he wont give in. I feed the dog, play with the dog, clean up after the dog, and he comes home after work and gets the fun of playing and sleeping with her and then goes back to work leaving me with the mess & frustration. Thanks for your help!!

Should I give up on my Old English Bulldogge?
I have an 11 month old Old English Bulldogge who is absolutely beautiful and is so sweet. We love him, except he will not stop chewing everything. He has now cost us over 00 in damage to our home. I don’t like to have him in the kennel when we are home, and even though we do keep an eye on him, most of the damage is done while we are with him in the evenings. He is in a kennel during the day when we are at work because he has eaten our couches, I have lost about 10 pairs of shoes. He has eaten my sons toys, and even recently has started on the kitchen cabinents. We have a large yard with a wooden privacy fence which he has also chewed off the bottom of 4 of the fence pannels, therefore I will have to replace the entire fence, which is about 40 pannels, because I can’t find a replacement to match. He loves to chew our deck an gazebo, and loved the wires for the pool pump. We took him to the vet last month, which is only 5 minutes away, and he chewed up the seat in my new truck!! The final straw was that yesterday, my husband called me while I was working to tell me that none of the televisions were working when he got home from work. He checked outside and the dog had actually dug up the cable lines for his snack!! He can do a lot of damage within a very short time because he is very strong.
We have tried so many things to keep him from eating the entire house, and it’s not working. He is now in a crate when we are away or, on a good weather day, outside tied up on a long lead away from everything, but who knew he would end up finding something to chew. I have bought all kinds of fancy chew toys, and raw hides, he has been to obedience/training classes twice, and is very well trained otherwise. I have bought the most expensive foods because the vet told me that perhaps he was missing something in his diet, and I put a muzzle on him when driving anywhere in the car. Help me!! What else can I do?? I am so frustrated that I don’t want to keep him anymore, but I also don’t want to give up on him. We researched this breed for a while before we got him, and I understand that this breed loves to chew, but I can’t afford this anymore. I need advice please. Should I give up or keep trying, and if I keep trying, what else should I do??

How can I keep my dog from barking in a humane way?
I have a 7-month old male pit bull. He is the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen, but after my recent move he’s begun barking constantly when I’m gone. I give him enough exercise, attention, etc. My neighbors are total neurotics and scream at me even if he just barks once. I did have a dog sitter, but now that’s not possible for awhile.
Anyway, I’ve enrolled him in obedience traning but we don’t start still Saturday. What are some humane ways I can control his barking? I bought an electric bark collar, but I tried it on myself (I know, I’m nuts) and it hurt SO BAD. Not an option. I’ve heard that the sound and citronella collars don’t work well. So, I’m thinking about a muzzle, but how can I tell when I buy it if he will be able to drink with it on? What are some opinions on effectiveness, side effects, etc?
To reiterate, if I am at home he does not bark, I might have to prompt him once, then he stops. When I leave or he is on a leash, he’s a holy terror. HELP!
