Can someone help me with Puppy Training?

Hello. I have a white pomeranian that is 1 year and 4 months old. We have been training him with a professional and he knows sit, lie down, stay, not to ask for food at the table ( sometimes he forgets so), not to run out the door when opened, and to stay at your side when your walking him ( trust me he was at the end of the leash all the time). I was wondering if anyone knows a special site which contains stuff such as house training, obedience, and crate training ( I take him out at night so he does his business and his crate is pee/poo free) . Tomorrow I am going to Petsmart to buy a clicker, small treats that I saw ( goes along with clicker so its like click, good boy, and treat), and a house training magazine which has a Yorkie on the front cover which has tips on training your dog step-by-step in a page. So if anyone would please give me a site i would really appreciate it.

Thanks

How does crate training a dog work?

I gave up on this method of potty training. Apparently your dog is supposed to learn to hold the pee/poo until morning, right? Well my Pomeranian pup didn’t. I always found poo in her crate, and it’s not a big crate, it’s the right size. Should I try again putting her in the crate again? She’s 7 months and still not potty trained. Any advice?!

How to we house train a dog who already has bad habits?

We have a male dog (Terri Poo) who is about 1 year old. We tried to house train and we failed. So we keep him outside all day. However, my son can’t sleep at night if he is not in his room. The problem is that we can’t get him to stop peeing in the room. We have tried, taking him out early and letting him in late. There has been times when he just went outside and then back inside and does his business inside, as if he had never gone outside. One more strange thing, he tends to do his business right in front of the door. We might be moving soon to an apartment complex, we don’t want to leave him behind because of my son, so what can we do to train him before we move?

Toilet Training An Adult Shelter Dog?

We have recently adopted our second dog from a shelter, Candy.

We have had Candy for five weeks and she has become great pals with our other dog Lucy who we have had for nine months. In most other aspects other than the toilet training she is wonderful..

We live in a rented house with a small backyard. I take the dogs for a long walk each morning and then again after work. Three days out of seven both humans are at work so we leave the dogs inside and I drive home at lunch time to let them go outside. Candy does not seem to quite get it. In fact, she may do a pee in the yard and two seconds later come into the house and go to the toilet on the rug. Or we will leave the back door open when we are at home and she goes to the toilet inside rather than outside.

They stay inside with us every evening and I take them into the yard to releive themselves before sleep for one last opportunity. Lucy cottoned on pretty quickly and seems to hold on when she can. (Of course it is understandble if left for longer periods only inside).

Candy had been at the no kill shelter for nine months and had obviously been used to going to the toilet in her cage.

When we first started taking her for walks, she didn’t even realize it was a good time to pee and poo.

The whole time she has been going to the toilet in our house in two rooms.. a spare bedroom and the dining room.. on rugs and sometimes on the carpet around it. I am constantly cleaning and trying keep the house smelling nice.

If Candy and Lucy go to the toilet during a walk, they are highly praised and showered with affection.

On top of praising them and taking them for regular walksI have tried:

- buying a strip of fake grass – she just went around it
- putting down training pads
- I have bought the special spray to spray onto the pads which is meant to attract them to do their business (I think the spray contains urine as it smells pretty bad..)
- keeping the door open whenevrr we are home

We could leave them outside when we are at work but it will be a shame as we head toward a hot summer (we have an outside laundry so could make the comfortable).

I would love any training tips or suggestions please?

Thanks!
